How is the “amount” at Selma calculated?
The amount is calculated by combining both, the money on your pillar 3a and on your investment account.
In order to place you in the correct fee tier, the calculation chooses the higher amount of either:
- Your total investments at Selma, including performance
- Your deposits minus your withdrawals
Check out this detailed example to get a feeling for how this would work in real life:
Situation | Fee tier | Your total investments at Selma | Deposits - withdrawals |
You start by adding 51’000 CHF to your Selma account. | You reach fee tier 0.55%. | 51’000 | 51’000 |
The markets go down, you lose 2’000 CHF. | You stay in fee tier 0.55%. | 49’000 | 51’000 |
The markets go up, you gain 7’000 CHF. | You stay in fee tier 0.55%. | 57’000 | 51’000 |
You have to withdraw 10’000 CHF. | You switch to 0.68% fee tier because both numbers are below the threshold. | 47’000 | 41’000 |
Markets go up again! You gain 4’000 CHF. | You switch to the 0.55% tier, because performance got you over the edge again. | 51’000 | 41’000 |
